Where our data comes from
Every fact on a fragrance page has a kind of origin, and the kinds are different enough that they deserve naming. This page says which is which. Live counts of what the library holds are published at /api/data-freshness, so nothing here goes stale.
Product facts
Names, concentrations, note listings, release years and bottle sizes come from the public product pages of the houses that make the fragrances and the retailers that sell them. These are facts about products, gathered from where the makers themselves publish them, then normalised into one consistent vocabulary: one spelling per note, seven canonical concentrations, one canonical name per country.
What we derive
The discovery filters, the similarity engine behind “smells like this”, the note family tree, the accord strength profiles, seasonal and occasion readings, and the search that ties it together are our own work, computed from the normalised library. So is all editorial writing.
Community ratings
Where a page shows a community rating, that signal was gathered elsewhere and is shown as context, labelled as such. It is not a rating collected on Osmagora.
Human review
A growing part of the library carries a human verdict: a person checked the record against its sources and corrected it. Those pages show a curator-checked mark.
Images
Bottle photographs and house logos belong to the houses and photographers who made them; we show them to identify fragrances, and the full position — with a fast takedown route — is at Image rights and takedown.
