Gucci's fragrance line began in Italy in 1974 with Gucci No. 1. The first perfume used a rich floral structure, while later eras moved through chypres, white flowers, woods, fruit and modern ambers. Changing creative directors repeatedly recast the line, but fashion imagery remains central to each launch.
