Ralph Lauren's fragrance line began in the United States in 1978 with Lauren and Polo. The paired launch translated two parts of the fashion world into scent: a floral women's perfume and an aromatic, leathery men's formula. Sport, romance, woods and clean freshness later became recurring families.
